November Member Challenge: Improve your quality of sleep

Personal Training in Columbia - K.O.R.E. Wellness

Sleep is just as important as nutrition and exercise when it comes to improving your health, performance, and body composition.

Good sleep helps our bodies and minds recover, keeping us lean, happy, mentally focused, and healthy.  But chronically bad sleep slathers on body fat, screws up our hormones, ages us faster, increases chronic illnesses, and drains our IQ and mojo.

Fortunately, research also shows that returning to adequate sleep can quickly reduce these risks.
So how do we go about getting good quality shut-eye?

Create a sleep routine

If you’re anything like me, you probably have developed some sort of routine for the morning and what you do when you wake up.  Well guess what, you can do the reverse at night — going Your body needs transition time and environmental cues to wind down just like it needs transition time and cues to wake up.

Now for everyone, this sleep routine will be slightly different just like everyone’s morning routine is slightly different, but the very first step to getting more and better sleep is to create a nighttime routine that tells your body that you are preparing to go to sleep. Over time, if you’re consistent, your body will start the process of gearing down automatically.
As far as questions about sleep routines, etc. we’ll get to these over the course of this month.  The first step is to commit to try figuring out a sleep routine that works for you over the month.
