Manage time with the end in mind.
Think for a second about your life purpose. Do you know what it is?
If you don’t, it’s worth spending some time figuring that out.
Hint: your purpose is what gives you a reason for living. It answers the questions:
Why do you get up in the morning?
What does winning “life” look like?
Your purpose is central in most of the decisions you make with regards to your life choices. For some, it’s becoming an expert in their field, for some it’s creating a legacy, for some it’s amassing great wealth, for some it’s more about being the keystone for their family, for some it’s more spiritually motivated.
Without a purpose in mind you can drift along in your day based off of what you “feel” Iike doing. In the world of time management, working based on what you “feel” like doing at the moment is equivalent to running on a treadmill: a lot of work without any headway.
Once you are clear on your purpose, time management becomes much easier. With your purpose in the forefront of your mind, you will always know what to say yes to and what to say no to. You can set priorities based on your purpose, based on what is most important. You get to be productive and efficient with each step you are taking throughout your day, week, and beyond because you are making decisions with the end goal in mind.
